. . . I think that he was living a hallucination that he was like Jesus and he was inside a passion play and that in a way he manufactured his own crucifiction. I felt that in addition to the last poem, a lot of his lyrics could even be interpreted in that manner. Take the lyrics to "I Don't Live Today" for example. I just wanted to make that point clear that there was a swing from one theory to the next, except I always held on to the theory that it was just a bad case of mismanagement, confusion, and loneliness that would lead somebody to want to slip away. . . . That became the end of the parade because it affected us so much. It was tough for me, it was tough for everybody. . . . He was a very psychedelic person. In my mind, a psychedelic person looks into a bright future and is blessed with an insight into the good things in life. |
